An update to the Buyee vs FJ competition; good news… after nearly a month waiting on the custom box at the Buyee warehouse it’s finally ready to be shipped; $309 for international shipping via DHL for the UFO themed one.

I guess I don’t mind waiting a month if it’s $90 cheaper.

The real test will be if packed well….

Almost forgot that $70 extra box fee; good call! I think it’s gonna be within $20 difference overall…. Basically a wash. I’ll post the exact costs tomorrow when I do the final judgement; after I inspect the packing…because DHL will be delivering the “Magic Neon Challengeball”. (The UFO one) tomorrow.


In the lengthy nearly 1 month delay waiting on this special box to be created I’ve already restored the “Cyclone V” that was ordered AFTER the UFO one from Buyee The good people at Buyee were very apologetic about the long wait though.

I think it will come down to packing skills or just plain personal preference.

The “Magic Neon Challengeball” is here and the competition is over; I was shocked at how close the shipping costs turned out, for Buyee; $382.60 once the fancy custom box was factored in (it’s a very impressive high quality box…) $390.16 for From Japan. I give the nod to Buyee for best packing; the dual double sided boxes double bubble wrapped ensured there was no movement of the machine during transit; even the pane of glass arrived unbroken. However the 4 week packing delay waiting on the custom box seemed like a long time to be waiting for a box.

If best packing job possible with DHL as the only option I’d go with Buyee; if you want more shipping options, prompt service, good packing; One map From Japan is the way to go. I’d say it was basically a tie. However I’d probably go with FJ next time since they are the most timely.

The Magic Neon Challengeball looks like it’s in need of a full tear down; very rusty!
