`Hey all, New to the forum and in the early changes of restoring a Satomi Three Star Arrange Ball. Inherited it from my Father-In-Law. I’d like to throw out some general questions. Any feedback appreciated.
    1) The plexiglass covering the play field is in need of replacement. Have any of you replaced that with glass instead of plexiglass? Any reason you’d think that not wise.
    2) In the lower left corner of the machine - right above the manufacture plate are 4 holes in the metal plate. Any idea what went there? I’ve attached a pic.
    3) I assume finding parts is challenging. I’m in need of the change tray (maybe it was an ash tray?). Replacement balls.

All in all it seems to be working. Several of the internal contacts that illuminate the lights are in need of a thorough cleaning. Plan to build a new external cabinet for it.

I love projects and this machine is pretty cool. I’m enjoying it. Alan

these machines are very cool and in my opinion, much more interesting and fun than typical pachinko machines from the era.
1-most use plexiglass just since it's easier to deal with if you have to cut it to size. if the machine happens to fall over then plexi won't break.
2-the ashtray went there. the plastic to the right of the payout tray is designed to hold tokens.
3-spare parts are non-existent unless you find a parts machine. you only need 16 balls and they can be found on ebay.

Welcome to the forums and best of luck in restoring your machine, like emmadog said, they are very cool and fairly rare. I used glass for the layer closest to the playfield and plexi for the outer, other than the chance of it breaking, I see no other drawbacks.
