Light version

Hi all, I’ve been away for awhile, but I’m back. I’ve got a question. I’m seeing the same machine, but one has Light in its title. What’s the difference?

The light version has “lighter” (better for home play) payout odds. 1/99 usually. Not sure of the specs of these exact models. Smaller but more frequent payouts which is better than huge payouts (lots of ball refilling) and waiting forever to get a fever in my opinion.

The regular version is usually around 1/319 odds. Middle spec is usually 1/199 or so.

There’s extremely few machines that have changeable odds. One can always adjust the nails to make any pachinko as easy or as more difficult to win. like the parlors do on a daily basis.

A-pachinko world has very high prices compared to JT Comatz or yahoo auctions.

The vast majority of collectors here in the US are not going to pay a $400 premium just to a get better odds version of a machine I’d say… unless money is no object!

I’ve never tried purchasing this way. A-Pachinko does provide the necessary transformer, etc. Do the other 2 options? How difficult is it working through them? Clean machines?

JT Comatz will sell you a transformer; for an extra $60 though. Machines for sale on yahoo auctions are typically sold without a transformer; but you can easily buy a transformer off yahoo auctions as well.

I’ve bought over a dozen machines from JT Comatz and they were all clean and very nice shape. They are super easy to deal with. They send you pictures and videos of the exact machine you want to buy so if there’s condition issues you don’t like; you can pass on it.

Yahoo auctions is more of a gamble; you get what you get… look closely at the pictures.
That said, I’ve had decent luck buying machines there too!

On older machines I suspect it's hard coded into the chip to meet regulations as there is a hell of a lot of difference between 1/99 and 1/315
Also different odds versions have different playing field graphics.

I saw the light version circuit board for one of my full odds machine. So I can just swap out the whole board if I want to.

Lighter odds is desirable for home play. For several reasons. More frequent reaches and fevers; less ball refilling when the fever is going; ect. Regardless if you are not playing for money; which 99% of collectors are not running a commercial parlor with their machines.

Paying hundreds more for light spec machines is not so desirable though… Good thing there’s other options available for buying the version you want. normally the prices are pretty similar.

For example; I’ve got the “best” “light” version 1/259 of Star Wars without the terrible 1/399 odds some less fortunate people are stuck with… Bragging rights!

The most common one in the UK is the ZF version with odds of 1/496.5
