1999 Fuji Shoji CR FL3 Not Powering On

Hello everyone, total newbie here. I was given 2 pachinko machines, a 70's Nishijin Model B and a new pachinko that I believe I have identified as a 1999 Fuji Shoji CR Yokai Entertainment FL3. I haven't found any technical support so far for this specific model and I have a dead simple question: how do I turn it on? When I plug in the unit, nothing happens. I've seen similar models where there were power switches in different places, but I've looked all across the back and inside the playfield doors and I can't find anything.

I suspect that there's a blown fuse somewhere and that some electrical component will need to be replaced, but before I even try that, I wanted to see if there's a simple way to tell if I'm missing a power switch? Can provide pictures if needed.

Make sure you are using a 24Vac transformer, Do not plug it direct into the mains, even if the plug looks correct. The previous owner might have already fitted one. But obviously I can't see that

Tip for finding the power switch if its got one. Is just follow the incoming cable.

Its a CR machine. so Might!!!!! need a dongle for teh shooter to work. This will have no effect on the screen or lights.

Thank you for the welcome everyone! I still couldn't find a power switch, but I pulled the transformer off the bottom and I think it's the original and it wasn't showing any consistent voltage when tested with a multimeter:

I was looking and the back and when translated, it looks like this:

So if I'm looking to replace the transformer, I know I need a 24v stepdown, but I'm not sure what I should be looking for in terms of VA output? I see that it says rated for 5A (fuse), but is that just the maximum or the power it requires? Would something that outputs 10VA like this one be sufficient? This has the same number of wires as my current one, but not sure if that's enough juice.

Or would something that outputs 40VA like this one be more what I need? What would I do with the extra wires in that case?

Is there a way to do a bypass besides the one on pinballdave? I'm looking to just bypass, not set up an emulation to make the card reader work. I've seen a lot of old threads, but right now that's the only one I can find. Even instructions on how to make one would be appreciated.

daverob's page also includes instructions for a basic dongle made from 4 parts.

No way. That transformer is way to small.

It says its fitted with a 5A fuse so a transformer of at least that would be recommended. 5x24 120VA

So I was originally testing DC, but when I switched to AC, I saw 25 volts. I also unplugged the unit to test resistance and was only seeing .7, so now I'm just super confused.

I'm wondering if this transformer would be better since it outputs at 24v DC 5amps? Or if I should be looking at something more like this that is 120v to 24vac running at 240va? I wasn't quite expecting to drop $70 on a new power supply (which is on the lowest end), but I guess this is what it takes?

I would avoid using DC power supplies. The machine is designed to run on a AC supply.

Fair point, thank you. At this point I'm wondering if I'm barking up the wrong tree. If I'm seeing 24 volts AC coming out of the transformer, I wonder if something blew further up the board? I'll keep looking into it.
