What is Your Preferred Volume Control Method

We all seem to have our own opinions on how to add speaker controls to pachinko and pachislo machines. Most common seem to be the little wafer boards, a regular potentiometer, and of course an L-pad. (and let us not forget fabric in the speaker - that's how I did my Fever Queen) I usually go the 500 ohm potentiometer route myself but I'm getting ready to put a stereo L-pad on the Lumina frame I just picked up.

It got me to thinking since I don't think it has been asked in quite a while... what is your preferred volume control method? Has your opinion changed over time? Have you run into problems with a specific method?

I'd be really interested to see a 2024 update of sorts on this topic.

20240901_070158.jpgHere is an L-Pad mounting option for a Lumina. It's not as easy as just drilling a hole but I think it's well worth the effort.
