Default I made this tool for repainting Spinners

I took a small geared motor out of a old projector, mounted it on a small board with a battery pack, put a piece of rubber hose over the end and used a small spring for tension. I cut the head off a brass nail and place it just close enough for the spinner to touch. I also took a piece of plywood and nailed in some brass nails then cut off the heads to hold the spinners so I can spay paint the base coat on all at the same time and to hold them for drying. It still needs some tweaking but works better than I hoped. I use paint stripper and evapo rust to remove the old paint and rust, enamel model paint for the repainting of the spinners.

Really Cool!! It sure beats using a variable speed drill on low speed.

    Very inventive!!

Never thought about doing that. I just go and tap them all in a board and spin them by hand. (This way you can show off you painting skills )

Great idea either way. (Though doesn't the motor take off the paint on the edges?)

Good idea and the next step is to fashion a holder for the paint brush, paint pen so that the border and center color's edges are perfect and consistently round.

How about selling the repainted ones on your site? Or maybe just a repainting price? At least the shipping would be reasonable.

The real challenge for repainting spinners has never been finding something that will rotate, but rather finding a way to affix the spinners to a shaft in a manner that will ensure it is centered enough to provide reasonably centered stripes and circles.

I use a variable speed drill, but with a shaft that screws into the spinner base (from a dremel kit).

That said, it is neat to see how inventive people can become in trying to solve a problem.

Wouldn't screwing the drill collet onto the spinner's shaft center it as if it were a drill bit?

It would if you could find a drill whose collet would actually grasp the outside of the spinner. I never found one.

This beats toothpicks stuck into styrofoam and them painting them by hand.
