Default Why bet 1 or 2?

    Hi all,

I was wondering why the "1, 2, or 3 bet" games seem to be slightly favorable to the "max bet only" games. Since there's no gambling aspect after it leaves Japan, is there any reason to ever bet 1 or 2? ?

    One example:

I use a quarter converted 1,2 or 3 bet machine as my piggy bank. Since pocket change doesn't seem to come in intervals of 3, it allows me to play it into the machine without leaving any "dangling" credits.

My theory as to why most new machines are max bet only is that almost everyone wants to bet 3 coins to get the maximum number of payout lines. (You actually get slightly better odds on 3 coins. 5 lines for 3 coins instead of 1 line for 1 or 3 lines for 2.)

Because most players dump in a bunch of coins in at once and then play the credits, they can get to the end with only 1 or 2 credits left. If they're in the swing of things they just keep going, hit the max bet, and spin - never realizing that they only bet 1 or 2 until they see a 4th or 5th line payout that didn't pay. This upset players. Since the max bet machines won't let someone make that mistake. they became more popular that the 1, 2, or 3 coin machines.
