    Default Cheaters?

How many of you have gone the easy way and simply opened the door and dropped the balls into the center section by hand? I wonder of you could use a magnet and direct the balls somewhat. I want to be sure to get arrested if I ever travel to Japan.

I've seen high powered magnets for sale on YJA before, but there are devices behind the machine that detect the magnetic field, plus the glass is double paned, gotta be a super magnet to catch that speeding ball.

Some frames have switches to detect if the door is open or not but you can take the glass out. I have done that when taking videos.

I didn't knew there are magnet detectors behind the machine. Does the machine play alarm or just won't start the reels?

Do you mean the machine itself has magnet detectors? I would be very surprised if something could detect a small magnetic field from behind a pachinko machine. The electronics in the machine would interfere too much.

You wouldn't need to catch (chase) the ball. Simply leave it near the top where the ball enters and it could be snared. Drag to the place desired and then pulled away to drop the ball. I've got a very strong magnet at work which could easily grab a steel ball even with two panes of glass or plastic.

No, it's something in the stand, but you may be right, they're more EM detectors (trying to screw up the machine's computer with a pulse). Attendants and cameras are everywhere, so having your hand near the glass would be suspicious. Plus the Nine-Fingers would get ya!

I don't know of too many machines past the early 90's that don't have door switches, and if they don't, they install them. The end aisle lights flash and the parlor's main computer will let someone know, but quick!

There are no magnetic sensors in the pachinko machine itself. The parlour could have them behind the machine, or built into the cabinet, or even the seats.

I've got hall-effect sensors around here (somewhere!) that are easily sensitive enough to be able to detect any magnet that would be powerful enough for a cheater to use, and would be able to reliably detect them from well over a foot away.

Let's face it we're not talking about small magnetic fields, they've got to be reasonably substantial to have any influence on the path of the balls through two panes of glass. There won't be any problem with false triggering either, as a cheaters magnet will need to be significantly more powerful than anything that's built into the pachinko machine. I mean you don't see balls clinging to the top corners of the cell just because the speakers are an inch or two away.

No need for magnets, just adjust the pins.

In Japan there are all kinds of cheating devices around, all of which are of course banned. I wouldn't want to get caught cheating in a Parlour... chances are you'll be dragged off out the back and never return.

The pins my friends, the pins.
In japanese they are called Kugi, if we say Kugi on Pachinko related TV programming it has to be beeped. lol... effectively its a swear word.

Well I can cheat without bending pins on my machine but it seems to be working well so I won't likely alter them. It does bring up the question though what devices could be used in a parlour setting? My original comment was a joke (cheating in a parlour) but now my curiosity is raised.

For the magnet to have any real impact, it'd have to be something very strong like a neodymium magnet. As Daverob says, these are easy to pick up with hall effect sensors. But in practice, you'd basically have to hold the thing right above the start pocket and hope it directs enough balls into the hole. If not that, you'd have to capture on by the drain hole and guide it up to the start pocket. Such a motion would be so obvious, it wouldn't even be worth the risk for a single spin.

When caught they take you out back, throw you into a van and drive you to the rice cracker factory. There you are sliced and diced. Rice crackers are people!!!
