I have not had cable tv in 2 years. When I did it was about $99.00 a month. So I cut the cord and went dsl for internet it is only $49.95 a month.

I got 2 roku box's had I got them on the day they launched.

for local tv as anyone knows all tv antenna are the same no matter how old they are. But I found the best ones out there are the cheap ones that can rotate, My area sucks for tv but with this type I get great tv.

I also do watch tv vie the laptop.

Do I miss tv no not at all. Heck there are weeks I never even turn it on. I have 2 tvs one being a projector and 200 inch screen that is never used anymore. the other a 32 inch lcd I watch it like once a week. lol I find no tv nice I now listing to the radio more and find myself not just setting but up doing things that need to be took care of more.

Cable Internet where we live is like $70 a month. My elderly relative that we take care of
has to have all her shows so we can't cut the cord yet.
But we watch 6 shows a week max.
I really like Top Shot but could easily live without TV if she didn't watch TV.

Here is an interesting article from PC Magazine. Apparently the big cable companies are moving towards streaming programs A La Carte through devices such as Roku. It will be interesting to see how it develops and what it will cost. Eventually, this would allow you to get just ESPN, for instance, without being forced to pay for it in a bundle of channels you would probably never watch.

It's been about a year now and I'm still using my two Roku receivers and a "free TV" antenna, and still have not even considered going back to cable.

i main reason i went to brighthouse was the huge increse in download speeds.

the tv, phone and internet package was the cheapest way to go in the long run

cost the same to me as slow dsl, 40 channels and local phone

p.s. i also get tons of HD channels

I finally got the rest of the family to cut the cord. From cable to Direct TV to Dish Network. I stopped watching TV years ago. The only thing that has stopped the rest of the family is the lack of any service available via antenna due to our location in the mountains.

The final straw came from Dish Network when the wife discovered a large amount owed them over and above the typical monthly rate. It turns out we received a number of 'premium' channels for a free 'introductory' period, after which time we were required to cancel. In either case, the bill was sent to our street address for months, and we don't receive mail here. When they finally got smart and sent it to our mailing address, we were confronted with a bill for several hundred dollars that nobody up the chain of command would dismiss or reduce.

We paid, and sent their equipment back to them the very next day.

No we have Roku, and a laptop hooked to the TV. Couldn't be happier.
