    Default Question about Pachinko glass.

Tonight I went to a local vendor to get some more pachislo tokens. He had a pachinko machine too. It is by Sankyo and was some wierd YMCA music theme. Any way I noticed this machine was MUCH more quiet then my Godzilla. When I say quiet I mean the balls where barely making much noise from hitting the glass. There was no clanking sounds like I get.

So I checked the machine out a bit and found out the window is double paned with two sheets of plastic. Probably lexan.

When I came home I popped open the window door on my Godzilla and realized I only have 1 pane installed. The one closest to the play field and that mine is made from real glass.

So, this is the cause of my clanking. Question is where can I get plastic windows for my machine? Is this a part I can order from someone?

I measured the current glass piece in there and it is 15-15/16 square by about 3/32 thick.

(Ask Mark if you don't believe me.)

You can get lexan cut to size at most hardware stores.

    Thanks Luckydog.

I'm here at work now and I found a nice sheet of 1/8 GE Lexan. I was suprised as most of our work requires 1/4 thick sheets. Anyway, I cut a piece to fit in my Godzilla. I'll put the lexan against the play field and move the real glass to the outter.

I went to an art store (Micheals) and bought 3 pieces of glass cut to order. They were about $17 a piece. The third piece was "non-glare". DON'T buy that. It doesn't work unless it is against the surface.

if the glass bounces around in the trouffer it slides in. put a edge of massing tape on it so it doesn't move. that will help quiet it down

I installed my Lexan windows and now my Godzilla sounds as I believe it should.

The only thing about lexan is that it scuffs easy. I may still go out and get a tempered piece of glass made for the front piece.

I don't know if you want tempered glass in a pachinko, but then again if it's the outerglass that would be okay.

Yeah, Lexan, plexiglas, acrylic, all scratch WAY to easy for me.

Doesn't Lexan scratch more easily than plexiglas?

    lexon is SOFTER than plexi
    it scratches easier
its made to be shock proof
    when hit hard,like a bullet
the moliculies all grab each other and stop the penetration
    like that chinese finger lock
the harder you try the tougher it gets
but slow and soft scratches will cut right through
scratches on that or plexi come out real easy with semichrome or mass polish
armorall keeps my sheets clean a scratch free

I found it very hard on my eyes to look thru two pieces of lexan. So, I changed the outter piece for a real piece of glass and it is much easier on the eyes.

What type of glass would be best to use on a pachinko?

I use for myself just reglar window glass, on machines I send out, i put in plexiglass, because of easy breakage on real glass that is loose panes.

Did you have plexiglass or lexan before the real glass?
Do you find the machine makes more noise with real glass vs the plexi?

On my Godzilla a lexan inside with a glass outter is the perfect combo as the
machine is much more quiet when balls knock against the lexan.

i had some type of plexan before. The machine does make more of a clicking noise from the balls hitting the glass. I put the 2 panels of glass in just for the authenticity (is that a word?) but like it better now that their in the machines.

If replacing the glass in a pachinko, do you replace with tempered glass or regular window glass?

What is the usual thickness of the glass? 3/32", 1/8", or thicker?

Do the edges of the glass need to be rounded?

    Thanks.

    It should be 1/8 glass.

My Newgin is easy, just about 16" square glass.

My Sankyo has round pieces that would probably be a pain to get replacements for.
